After twenty years of independence, Moldova presents a fascinating story of political, social, and economic development. Saddled with many of the quintessential challenges of the post-Soviet space—corruption, internal conflict, underdevelopment, and labor migration—Moldova has chosen an ambitious path of reform, reconciliation, and European integration.
What has been and will be the role of the U.S.-Moldova relationship in shaping both countries' approaches to these challenges and aspirations? What lessons can be drawn from the experience of Moldovans who have lived inside and outside the country during this period, and where do they see Moldova going in the next two decades?
